if there were only one i wouldn't have liked the brenton rossow poems. but two i suppose gives you more data points to compare.

willie smith's bio puts me off him from the get go. why is he ashamed of being human? does that mean he dislikes me? what did i do? what horror does it celebrate? the horror of feeling deeply ashamed of being human? i don't get it. i think he should work on his bio. it'd be better to say nothing at all.

Willie's an interesting fellow with plenty of life experience informing his feelings. He's somebody who takes joy in communicating through email. I'm sure if you contacted him he'd be glad to discuss his thoughts on the human condition with you.

I really liked the work of Adam Moorad, plus I read his older piece here for the first time and thought it was superior to most of the work I've ever read in the Jargon. No one maintains quality the way the Jargon does anymore. Well, that's a lie, but few are so often on the mark.

I don't know why Thieves Jargon never got around to paying people. At least a token amount. Especially after they started getting all douchey about their submission process.

publishing and paying 7 authors a week, even a token amount, i'm sure would add up, especially when google add banners, i've heard, literally get you fractions of a cent per unique hit... and you get 100 hits a day... that's not much. as a one time published author here, i'd rather see my money go back into the magazine, whatever that means.

bikini sex. i wanted to like it, from the title to the excerpt on the main page, but i'm just not a fan of the non-sentence structure. i can tolerate a few of those but not many. there's nothing to sink the teeth into.

Bikini sex is a "jewel"? How precious! Maybe. I'll get. It. If I pay more. Attention. To the words. And the beach. And the tide. As it comes. Goes. Without saying. Or Doing. Anything. At all. Ever.

That Erlewine story is the straight-up poo-poo. Good fucking work.

And speaking of good stories, the best one I've read in a while is over at Hobart, called "My hand, dead tissue severed at the wrist," by Kevin Wilson.
