Patterson Signs 17-Book Deal with Hachette
By Jim Milliot
While sales of titles by some brand name authors have slowed in recent years, that hasn’t been the case with James Patterson and the prolific author has just inked a new 17-book deal that will keep him with publisher Hachette through 2012. The deal includes 11 adult titles, to be published in hardcover by Little, Brown and Company and in paperback by Grand Central Publishing, and six titles for young readers, to be published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

17 books... that's not a small amount. and he can/will produce that before 2012? geez.
Does this include the James Patterson books he doesn't actually write? Like the one's where it's like James Patterson's Faggotron 4 by Jackie Johnson Jr.
Hey, everybody, the sky is blue, and it's gonna remain blue for as long as James Patterson writes his books. After that it might turn brownish.
"Patterson earned $50 million from June 2007 to June 2008, placing him second on the list of best paid authors in the world" wikipedia.
i'd never heard of this guy.
I come up with about 2.3 books per month. I'm sure with that kind of pace they will all be fresh, new and wonderful.
More proof that people read the same way they listen to music. Whatever is marketed the hardest, wins. The irony in marketing the worst possible shit the hardest is completely lost somewhere along the way.
That's all I can say right now, since I'm late for a Nickleback concert...
There is no "irony" in marketing the worst possible shit, that's what marketing is all about: pushing crap. Quality needs no marketing, or very little.
Good luck in your football game Renaissance.
i think marketing is about selling (pushing) that which the marketers or financiers think is the most profitable. if you can't profit from smart people, that's something different.
quality needs some marketing. those vampire books (twilight) are stupid but people love the shit out of them. hell, i read them all. i forgot my point. but i too am late for a concert, except i don't even know where i'm going. the girlfriend has a car and sit down and pay my money.
You're a bestselling writer and a full time friend. Alex Cross books are the latest trend. I don't see what anyone could in anyone else.
